Biography

 

Ms. Fisher is originally from East Aurora, New York. After graduation from the Buffalo General School of Nursing she served in the United States Army Nurse Corps. In Lakeland , Florida she practiced nursing at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center serving in many capacities. It is here where she raised her sons and obtained her Bachelor in the Science of Nursing at Florida Southern College. Lakeland. In addition to this, she served the community in leadership with the Boy Scouts, American Cancer Society and established education and support groups for smoking cessation, laryngectomees and the blind. In 1988 she joined the staff of the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa , Florida and with physician colleagues and leadership developed a care model for the Head and Neck Cancer Program.  She received her Master of Science in Nursing with specialized concentration in oncology and education from the University of South Florida. In 1998 she joined the faculty of the University of Miami Medical School as a Clinical Instructor of Otolaryngology. Fisher’s practice provides care and education for the healing and supportive needs of patients and staff. She serves as Co - Investor and research nurse for multiple studies exploring therapies and early detection of head and neck cancer. Additionally, Fisher serves as the coordinator of the Head and Neck Cancer Photodynamic Therapy program.
