Barbara Lopez Avila, M.D.
Dr. Lopez is a Faculty member, Senior Colleague, and University Research Reviewer at Walden University, Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership. Her research interests include interventions aimed at preventing adolescent substance abuse and anxiety disorders in children. Dr. Lopez has received funding from National Institutes of Health and the American Cancer Society and has over 20 publications in peer reviewed journals.
Currently, Dr. Lopez servers as an investigator in an ongoing funded trial examining the “Mechanisms Explaining Anxiety and Depressive Symptoms in Ethnically Diverse Youth”. She also teaches psychology and research methods at Walden University, Barry University, and Nova Southeastern University.
