Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center serves as the cancer treatment and research hub of UHealth – University of Miami Health System.

Sylvester handles approximately 1,300 inpatient admissions, performs approximately 2,500 surgical procedures, and treats more than 4,400 new cancer patients annually with locations in Miami, Deerfield Beach, Kendall, Plantation and Hollywood. All Sylvester physicians are on the faculty of the Miller School of Medicine, South Florida’s only academic medical center.

At Sylvester, we specialize in cancer, only cancer. Sylvester organizes its cancer research and treatment into 15 “site-disease groups,”– specialized, multidisciplinary teams of healthcare professionals who focus on specific types of cancer.

Today there are more than 288,000 outpatient visits to the cancer center annually and more than 250 physicians and scientists working together to realize Harcourt Sylvester Jr.‘s vision of a comprehensive cancer center. In addition, Sylvester physicians and scientists are engaged in approximately 259 clinical trials and receive more than $55 million annually in research grants.

Sylvester offers outpatient clinics in a variety of specialties and a 40-bed inpatient hospital.

From Points North

  • Take I-95 S to exit 3-A towards SR 836 W and NW 14th St.
  • Merge onto SR 836 W and take the NW 12th Ave. exit.
  • Turn right on NW 12th Ave., Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center will be on your right side.

From Points South

  • Take I-95 N to exit 3-A SR 836 W (toward Airport/ UM/ Jackson/ VA Hospitals) on the left.
  • Exit SR 836 at NW 12th Ave.
  • Turn right on NW 12th Ave.Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center will be on your right side.

From Points East

  • Take I-395 W to NW 12th Ave. exit.
  • Turn right on NW 12th Ave., Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center will be on your right side.

From Points West

  • Take SR 836 E and exit at NW 17th Ave.
  • Keep right at the fork and follow signs for NW 17th S. Merge right onto NW 17th Ave.
  • Continue 3 blocks and turn left on NW 7th St.
  • Follow NW 7th St and turn left onto NW 12th Ave.
  • Go over the 12th Ave bridge and under the SR 836 expressway. Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center will be on your right side.


Valet Parking

Sylvester/UMHC has two parking lots; both are valet only. You may park in the south lot at the Sylvester entrance on N.W. 12th Avenue or in the north lot at the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics’ (UMHC) entrance, which is located just north of the Sylvester entrance. Turn right on N.W. 15th Street (Papanicolaou Way), pick up a ticket from the parking attendant, and continue to the valet drop-off point, located at the UMHC entrance.

Valet parking is available from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Parking for patients and family members is $8 per day. Wheelchair assistance also is available. Non-patients or non-family members pay $20 per day

Garage Parking & Shuttle Service

1120 N.W. 14th St., just east of N.W. 12th AVE.

It is now easier than ever to visit your UHealth – University of Miami Health System physician in Miami. Park at the new Clinical Research Building garage on the Medical Campus for just $4.00 – half the regular price – then ride our air conditioned shuttle bus to your appointment.
Your shuttle bus driver will validate your parking ticket so be sure to bring it with you.

Our hassle-free shuttle service will take you to and from your appointments at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center/UMHC – University of Miami Hospital & Clinics and University of Miami Hospital. Shuttles will run approximately every 10 minutes and stop at designated entrances. This service is free of charge (with paid parking), and operates between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday through Friday.


The Metrorail system provides service to University of Miami Hospital via the Civic Center station in northwest Miami-Dade, with connections to Broward and Palm Beach counties at the Tri-Rail/Metrorail transfer station.
Metrorail Operates from:
5:00 AM to Midnight, 7 days a week.
The Metrobus system is designed to intersect with Metrorail and Metromover and serves all major business, shopping, entertainment, and cultural centers, as well as major hospitals and schools.All City of Miami Trolleys are Free of charge, accessible to riders using wheelchairs and are ADA Compliant.
