The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Clinical Research Building (CRB) and Wellness Center was held on January 20, 2004. The facility opened in late 2006. The CRB was the first of six new medical facilities the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine plans to open in the coming years.
The CRB is home to more than 300,000 square feet of clinical research space, specializing in patient safety, pediatrics and clinical pharmacology.
With more than 1,300 ongoing projects funded by some $200 million in external grants and contracts to UM faculty, the Miller School ranks in the top third among U.S. medical schools in terms of research funding.
Expanding the scope and scale of research on the medical campus is a core institutional goal.
