Dr. M. Manoharan is a leader in the field of urologic oncology, specializing in robotic, laparoscopic and complex open cancer procedures. He is a board certified, fellowship trained urologist. He is a tenured professor at the department of urology and serves as the Director of Urologic Oncology Fellowship program at the University of Miami. He is also the Site Disease Group leader for Genito-Urinary cancer at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. He has described several innovative surgical procedures and is one of the first surgeons in the country to perform robotic radical cystectomy and neobladder reconstruction using a pfannenstiel incision. Apart from being an expert in prostate cancer, he is an international leader in the field of bladder cancer and bladder reconstruction. He has won the “Best Urology Teacher of the Year Award” on multiple occasions. He is a co-director of a cancer outcome research group, striving to improve the quality of life in urologic cancer patients. His research interests include stem cell applications, biomarkers and cancer outcomes. Dr. Manoharan has authored more than 100 scientific articles and 15 text book chapters, apart from several presentations at national and international meetings. He has served as a member on the International Bladder Cancer Guidelines committee organized by the WHO and SIU.
