Dr. Lori DeFillipo, a Miami native, studied medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine, after completing her undergraduate studies at Emory University. She did her residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital, and was boarded in Diagnostic Radiology in 1988. She went on to complete a fellowship in body and breast imaging at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Miami Beach, FL. Her practice since then has been focused on women’s imaging. She interprets mammography, including tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, thyroid ultrasound, gynecologic ultrasound and breast MRI examinations. She performs multi-modality image-guided breast biopsies and pre-operative needle-localizations. Together with Dr. Nilza Kallos, she was the first to implement and offer 3-D mammography or tomosynthesis in Miami. Her practice has also helped many indigent and un-insured patients in the community, mostly in conjunction with the Liga Contra El Cancer. In addition to providing state of the art imaging to her patients, she provides guidance and testing for genetic mutations related to breast and gynecologic cancers. She truly enjoys connecting with patients on a personal level and contributing to their total well-being.
