The University of Miami Health System and the Community
The University of Miami Health System/Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine has been a community partner since the medical school was founded in 1952. For more than half a century, UHealth/Miller has increased its presence in South Florida as a major health care provider and employer as well as an influential community partner and civic leader. This unified presence is visible on our main campus near downtown Miami, which employs more than 1,500 physicians and 8,200 associates.
Our commitment clearly begins with offering university-based, leading edge patient care. We provide services at more than two dozen outpatient facilities and three hospitals including University of Miami Hospital, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and our affiliates, Jackson Memorial Hospital, Holtz Children’s Hospital, and the Miami VA.
